SWIFT, Charles Fayette, a Representative from Beaver County; born, January 12, 1855 in Paines Hollow, Herkimer County, NY; attended, Basse’s Select School; attended, Little Falls Academy; graduated, Adrian College, Mi. (1878); D.D., Adrian College (1900); minister, Methodist Protestant Church (1878-1928); secretary and treasurer, Adrian College (2 years); school director, Bellevue; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a member of the Washington Party in 1912; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1914); field secretary, Pennsylvania Anti-Saloon League (1914-1915); superintendent, Pittsburgh District Anti-Saloon League (1915-1916); state superintendent, Pennsylvania Anti-Saloon League (1916-1922); lecturer, National Reform Association (1922-1928); died, October 10, 1944 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grove Cemetery, New Brighton, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
