SMITH, Jacob W., a Representative from Carbon County; born in Lititz, Lancaster County, Pa., September 12, 1860; graduated, Lititz Academy; farmer; blacksmith; druggist; elected, school board, Mauch Chunk (15 years); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1913 term and served 2 consecutive terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1917 term; died, May 30, 1927 in Pennsylvania; interred, Mauch Chunk Cemetery, Jim Thorpe, Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
