SMITH, Edgar Rufus, a Representative from Bedford County; born, May 17, 1891 in Yellow Creek, Bedford County, Pa.; attended, Susquehanna University; studied law, Chattanooga College of Law; studied law, University of Maryland, Baltimore; teacher; engaged in the agricultural and lumbering business; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1916 and 1918; not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1920 General election; elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (1920); co-owner, Bedford Inquirer (1917-1921); partner, Bedford Lumber Company; died, October 26, 1921 in Washington, District of Columbia; interred, Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Yellow Creek, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
