SHIELDS, William Douglass, a Representative from Forest County; born, May 18, 1858 in Clarington, Forest County, Pa.; educated in public schools; attended, Iron City Commercial College (Duffs Business Institute); oil and lumber businessman; boat builder; mercantile businessman; elected, commissioner, Forest County (1884-1887); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1906; not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1908 General election; died, December 17, 1924 in Farmington, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Tabor Cemetery, Sigel, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
