DAWIDA, Michael Matthew, a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., September 4, 1949; graduated, Carrick High School; B.A., history, University of Pittsburgh, 1971; J.D., Hamline University Law School, 1976; attorney; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 26th Legislative District in 1978 and 1980; reelected to the House to serve the 36th Legislative District in 1982; served 2 more consecutive terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1989-1996); elected, commissioner, Allegheny County (1996-1999); unsuccessful campaign, Allegheny County Executive (1999); unsuccessful campaign, controller, Pittsburgh (2007); professor of law and public policies, California University of Pennsylvania (now Pennsylvania Western University, California); executive director, Scenic Pittsburgh.
