FATTAH, Chaka, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., November 21, 1956; graduated, Overbrook High School; graduated, Philadelphia Community College, 1976; attended, Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, 1978; attended, John Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, 1984; M.G.A., Fels Institute for State and Local Government, University of Pennsylvania, 1986; special assistant to the director, Philadelphia Housing and Community Development (1980); special assistant to the managing director, Philadelphia Housing and Community Development (1981); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1983, 1985 and 1987 terms; appointed, Select Committee to Investigate Limerick II (1984); appointed, Select Committee to Investigate Alcohol Abuse in Pennsylvania Institutions of Higher Education (1987-1988); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1989-1994); appointed, board, Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) (1985-1994); appointed, Pennsylvania Higher Educational Facilities Authority (1991-1994); resigned from the State Senate, August 31, 1994; elected, United States Congress (1995-June 23, 2016).
