RIEBEL, John H., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, January 7, 1845 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; sergeant, Company C, 58th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1866, Civil War); proprietor, cigar manufacturing company; member, 20th Ward Republican Committee; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887 term and was reelected to the House for 13 more consecutive terms; appointed, Pennsylvania Commission of Soldiers’ Orphans’ Schools; trustee, Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home of Erie (1913); died while in office, February 27, 1913 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
