McKEAN, James A., a Representative from McKean County; born, August 11, 1845 in Glen Cove, Nassau County, NY; educated in the public schools; farmer; dam construction foreman; carpenter; car builder, Pennsylvania and Erie Railroads (5 years); engaged in the lumber and bark business; proprietor, McKean Brothers, sawmill; elected, supervisor, Keating Township (2 years); elected, commissioner, McKean County (3 years); elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (1900); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1906 and 1908; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1910); died, January 25, 1923 in Smethport, McKean County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport, McKean County, Pennsylvania.
