McKAY, John, a Representative from Luzerne County; born, 1855 in Nova Scotia, Canada; coal miner; elected, burgess, Luzerne borough (1883); elected, justice of the peace (1883-1888); traveling salesman; elected as a Keystone/Washington candidate to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1912; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1914); reelected to the House as a Republican in 1916 and 1918; died while in office, May 15, 1919 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
