McCOLLOUGH, James Meylert, a Representative from Butler County; born in Fairview Township, Butler County, Pa., August 14, 1855; attended, Witherspoon Institute, Butler, Pa.; attended, Prospect Academy; attended, Northwest State Normal School (now Pennsylvania Western University, Edinboro); teacher; farmer; tax collector, Fairview Township (4 years); assessor and constable, Fairview Township; school director, Fairview Township (45 years); enumerator, United States Census (1890); elected, delegate to the Republican State Convention (1894); elected, prothonotary, Butler County (1900-1903); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1916; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1918); postmaster, Pennsylvania State Senate post office (1923-1924); engaged in oil production; died, February 14, 1932 in Fairview Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
