MARSHALL, William Thomas, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, February 13, 1858 in Allegheny City (now Pittsburgh), Allegheny County, Pa.; attended, Western University of Pennsylvania (now University of Pittsburgh); clerk, grocery store; lawyer (1880-1944); appointed, deputy collector, United States Customs Serivce, port of Pittsburgh (1881-1885); employed, People’s Gas Company; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1887); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1889 term; reelected to serve for 6 more consecutive terms; elected, Speaker (1901-1902); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1903 term; died, October 22, 1944 in Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania; interred, Evans City Cemetery, Evans City, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
