MANSFIELD, Ira Franklin, a Representative from Beaver County; born, June 27, 1842 in Poland, Mahoning County, Oh.; graduated, Poland College; captain, Fourteenth Army Corps, Company H, 105th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry (1862-1865, Civil War); iron molder, Pittsburgh; owner and operator, Cannel Coal Mine (1865-1890); elected, clerk and treasurer, Darlington Township (18 years); elected, justice of the peace, Darlington Township (25 years); general store proprietor; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1880; reelected to the House in 1892, 1894, 1896, and 1902; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1882, 1904); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1898, 1900); elected, council, Beaver (6 years); school director, Beaver (6 years); director, Pittsburgh, Lisbon and Western Railroad; director and vice president, First National Bank of Rochester; fruit farmer; director, Beaver County Electric Company; director, Rochester and Beaver Real Estate Companies; vice president and president, Beaver College (now Arcadia University); died, June 7, 1919 in Rochester, Beaver County, Pennsylvania; interred, Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland, Mahoning County, Ohio.
