LEWIS, Linus Mead, a Representative from Jefferson County; born in Perry Township, Jefferson County, Pa., January 26, 1863; educated in the common schools; teacher (6 years); farmer (48 years); engaged in the lumbering industry; coal mine operator (28 years); elected, auditor, Young Township; elected, township clerk (2 terms), assessor (3 terms), township supervisor (3 terms), school director (3 terms), Young Township; vice president and director, Patrons’ Mutual Fire Insurance Company, Indiana and Jefferson Counties; organized, Farmers’ Telephone Company of Jefferson and Indiana Counties; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1916; not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1918 General election; director, County National Bank; director, Mahoning Hardware and Implement Company; died, March 18, 1928 in Grove City, Mercer County, Pennsylvania; interred, Olive Cemetery, Oliveburg, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
