LEIGHNER, John McCutcheon, a Representative from Butler County; born in Delmont, Westmoreland County, Pa., October 1, 1845; attended, New Salem Academy; practiced dentistry (1864-1874); cashier, Prospect Savings Bank (1874-1884); engaged in wholesale and retail mercantile business (1888-1906); member, Republican State Committee; president, Butler Board of Health (13 years); director, Butler Agricultural Society (10 years); chair, Butler County Republican Committee (1892-1893, 1902); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1885 term; re-elected for the 1915 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1917 term; died, January 11, 1919 in Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania; interred, North Side Cemetery, Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
