Lewis, a Representative from Somerset County, born, April 29, 1847, in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County, Pa.; private, Company K, 204th Regiment, 5th Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (1864-1865, Civil War); engaged in lumber and charcoal businesses; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Lambertsville (1881); school director; proprietor, grocery store (1881-1918); United States Patent holder, wagon brake block (1896); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representative as a Republican in 1902 and 1904; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1906); died, April 13, 1918 in Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania; interred, Lambertsville Cemetery, Lambertsville, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
