KUNKLE, John Edward, a Representative from Westmoreland County; born, August 16, 1862 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pa.; teacher (4 years); lawyer (1887-1929); school director, Greensburg; trustee, Franklin and Marshall College (1900-1903); director and president, St. Paul’s Orphans’ Home, Butler, Pa.; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1922; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1924); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1924-1929); died in the office of the Senate, December 20, 1929 in Rochester, Olmstead County, Minnesota; interred, Union Cemetery, Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
