HUNTER, Dr. Robert P., a Representative from Armstrong County; born near Jacksonville, Indiana County, Pa., January 23, 1837; graduated, Jacksonville Academy; M.D., Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College), 1869; served, United States Army (1861-1865, Civil War); major, surgeon chief, 9th Division, Pennsylvania National Guard (1876-1877); school teacher; physician; cattle farmer; organizer and director, Leechburg Bank (1873-1880); elected, burgess, Leechburg (2 terms); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1911 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1913 term; trustee, Soldier and Sailors’ Home, Erie; died, August 13, 1913 in Leechburg, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania; interred, Leechburg Cemetery, Leechburg, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.
