HUMES, E. Lowry, a Representative from Crawford County; born in Meadville, Crawford County, Pa., July 25, 1878; attended, Allegheny College; major and brigade adjutant, 16th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard (1900-1916); major, judge advocate, United States Army (1918-1919, World War I); attorney; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1912; elected, Minority Leader (1913); resigned from the House, September 17, 1913; appointed, United States Attorney, Western District of Pennsylvania (1913-1918, 1919-1920); employed, Judiciary Committee, United States Senate; appointed, special assistant to the United States Attorney General (1920); appointed, attorney and secretary, Meadville school district (10 years); died, December 13, 1970 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
