HOWARD, Josiah, a Representative from Cameron County; born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pa., January 3, 1861; graduating public high school, 1880; employed, C.B Howard Company, saw mills; director, Keystone National Powder Company of Emporium, manufacturers of dynamite; lumber import businessman; established, Emporium & Rich Valley Railroad; executive, Novelty Incandescent Lamp Company; board member, First National Bank, the Cameron County Bank, the Emporium Water Company and the Emporium Works; established, Keystone National Explosives Company and the Aetna Explosives Company; founder and director, Cameron County Library (1898-1928); elected, burgess, Emporium borough (1902-1903); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1904; reelected to the House to 4 consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1914); died, March 14, 1936 in Emporium, Cameron County, Pennsylvania; interred, Newton Cemetery, Emporium, Cameron County, Pennsylvania.
