HARVEY, James Gartrell, a Representative from Luzerne County; born, December 23, 1859 in Cornwall, England; attended, Dickinson Seminary (now Dickinson College); coal miner; employee, Linderman, Skeer & Co., meat market (1884-1888); co-owner, Harvey & Curtis meat market (1888-1892); proprietor, Harvey meat market (1892-1903); elected, sheriff, Luzerne County (1899-1901); seated as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1903 term as a result of contested election, April 15, 1903; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1904); coal mine operator; elected, mayor, Hazleton (1913-1917, 1921-1932); died, January 25, 1932 in Hazleton, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mountain View Cemetery, West Hazleton, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
