GRIFFIN, George Merle, a Representative from Fayette County; born, April 4, 1884 in Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pa.; attended, Mount Pleasant Institute; farmer; board president and secretary, Springhill Township School District; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1930; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1932); died, April 11, 1949 in Flatwoods, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery, Vanderbilt, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
