GRAY, Joseph Anthony, a Representative from Cambria County; born in Spangler, Cambria County, Pa., February 25, 1884; attended, St. Benedict’s School; graduated, Eastman College, 1905; private, Company H, 5th Infantry (1900-1902) and Signal Corps (1902-1903), United States Army; lawyer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1912; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1914); president, Board of Health, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (1916-1920); motion-picture exhibitor, Spangler (1920); elected, school director, Spangler (1930-1934); elected, United States Congress (1935-1939); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1938, 1940); elected, council, Spangler (1939-1943); publisher, The Conservative; died May 8, 1966 in Spangler, Cambria County, Pennsylvania; interred, Holy Cross Cemetery, Spangler, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
