GANS, Sigmund J., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, June 9, 1875 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; graduated, Jefferson Boys’ Grammar School, 1890; co-owner, Gans Brothers, stationary manufacturers; member, Republican Committee Executive Committee (9 years); unsuccessful campaign for election to the Pennsylvania House of Representative in 1906; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1908, 1910, 1912, 1914, 1916, and 1918; resigned from the House, December 6, 1919; elected, city council, Philadelphia (1920-1926); died, November 30, 1926 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Sinai Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
