GALLAHER, Sarah McCune, a Representative from Cambria County; born in New Washington, Clearfield County, Pa., June 8, 1864; B.E., Indiana Normal School (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania), 1884; M.S., Indiana Normal School (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania), 1888; Ph.B., Cornell University, 1895; attended, University of Oxford; attended, Université de Paris; attended, Berlin University; M.A., Bennett Fellowship in American History, University of Pennsylvania, 1902; teacher; instructor, Indiana Normal School (1888-1893); associate principal, Birmingham College Preparatory School (1896-1900); editorial staff, University Publishing Company (1902-1904); proprietor and principal, Hallesen Place, Ebensburg Elementary Boarding School (1904-1942); established, boarding school in Puerto Rico; vice-chair, Republican Women’s Organization of Cambria County; member, state committee, Republican Women’s Organization; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1923 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1925 term; died, July 23, 1964 in Spangler, Cambria County, Pennsylvania; interred, New Washington Cemetery, New Washington, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
