FLYNN, John Merton, a Representative from Elk County; born in Ridgway, Elk County, Pa., February 14, 1873; president, Russell Snow Plow Company; director, Elk County National Bank; executive vice-president, Association’s Casualty Insurance Company and Fire Insurance Company; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1903 term; reelected to serve for 16 consecutive terms thereafter; elected, Minority Leader (1907-1908, 1915-1916); appointed, Pennsylvania Health Insurance Commission (1917); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1936); president, Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association; died, August 18, 1942 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery, Ridgway, Elk County, Pennsylvania.
