Dixon, George R., a Representative from Elk County; born in Neversink, Sullivan County, NY, July 23, 1848; valedictorian, Monticello Academy, 1868; Rutgers College Grammar School, 1869; A.B., Rutgers College (University), 1873; M.A., Rutgers College (University), 1876; principal, public schools in Ridgeway, Elk County (2 years); elected superintendent of the public schools, Elk County (4 terms); attorney; member and chair, Elk County Democratic Committee; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1894; reelected to serve 3 more additional terms; not a candidate for reelection the House in the 1904 General election; vice president, Ridgway National Bank; died, June 11, 1912 in Ridgway, Elk County, Pennsylvania.
