DEWEY, Charles P., a Representative from Bradford County; born in South Creek Township, Bradford County, Pa., December 8, 1862; graduated, Warner’s Business College, Elmira, NY, 1882; engaged in the mercantile business (1889-1917); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Gillett, Pa.; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention; elected, register and recorder, Bradford County (1905-1908); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1917 term and served 2 more consecutive terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1922); died, November 7, 1940 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, New York.
