DAY, Dr. Howard Wood, a Representative from Westmoreland County; born, December 5, 1870 in Sparta, Washington County, Pa.; attended, Washington and Jefferson College; attended, University of Nebraska; M.D., Northwestern University, 1899; served, Company H, 10th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard (1898-1899, Spanish-American War); physican; physician, McKeesport Hospital (1899-1900); deputy coroner, Westmoreland County (1906-1916); chair and physician, Local Draft Board, Monessen; surgeon, Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad Company, Carnegie Steel Company and the Page Steel and Wire Company; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1918; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1920); died, June 1, 1937 in Monessen, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grandview Cemetery, Monessen, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
