STEWART, William J., a Representative from Armstrong, Cambria, Indiana and Westmoreland Counties; born in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa., July 12, 1950; graduated, Greater Johnstown High School; attended, University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown; served, Pennsylvania National Guard (1969-1976); electrician, Bethlehem Steel Corporation; retail businessman (10 years); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1977 term and served 5 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Pennsylvania Milrite Council (1985-1988); resigned from the House, April 7. 1987; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (April 7, 1987-1996); appointed, Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (1987-1990); appointed, Local Government Commission (1995-1996); not a candidate for reelection, State Senate (1996); director, Keystone Energy Forum; founder, WJS Apine, heating and plumbing and consulting; died, March 7, 2016 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania
