LAWLESS, John A., a Representative from Montgomery County; born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., November 30, 1957; graduated, Methacton High School, 1975; B.S., West Chester State College (now West Chester University of Pennsylvania), 1979; MBA candidate, Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science; former assistant manager, Bell Telephone Co.; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1990 and served 5 more consecutive terms; appointed, board, Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) (1993-2002); appointed, Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (1995-1996); changed party affiliation to Democrat on December 3, 2001; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (2002); unsuccessful campaign, Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania (2002).
