CAROTHERS, Charles Edward, a Representative from Washington County; born in Sewickley Township, Westmoreland County, Pa., October 31, 1860; farmer; chair, Washington County Republican Committee (1897-1936); elected, sheriff, Washington County (1901-1902); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1908; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1910); Deputy Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture; deputy, Auditor General’s Office; elected, treasurer, Washington County (1932-1935); died, February 12, 1946 in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Chartiers Hill Cemetery, Canonsburg, Washington County, Pennsylania.
