BUCKMAN, Clarence Jay, a Representative from Bucks County; born in Middletown Township, Bucks County, Pa., October 31, 1879; graduated, Hulmeville High School, 1894; graduated, State Model School, 1897; graduated, University of Pennsylvania School of Law, 1900; lawyer; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1907); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1909 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1910); elected, Pennsylvania State Senator (1911-1938); elected, Senate President pro tempore (1917-1919); elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (1916); appointed, Joint Legislative Commission on Interstate Cooperation and Special Committee on Interstate Corporation (1935-1936); died, February 18, 1943 in Langhorne, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Middletown Friend’s Cemetery, Langhorne, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
