BERRY, John McConnell, a Representative from Washington County; born, January 14, 1839 in Cecil Township, Washington County, Pa.; private, Company G, 140th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1865, Civil War); farmer; sheep breeder; elected, justice of the peace (1885-1905); elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1888); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1902 and 1904; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1906); unsuccessful campaign,  Pennsylvania State Senate (1906); died, March 16, 1912 in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, United Presbyterian Cemetery in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
