BENTLEY, Charles Alcinus, a Representative from Washington County; born in Monongahela City, Washington County, Pa., July 11, 1860; served, Company A, 1st Regiment, emergency command, Pennsylvania National Guard (1877); carpenter; brakeman, Pennsylvania Railroad Company (1881-1890); conductor, Ellsworth branch, Pennsylvania Railroad Company (1891-1906); president, Black Diamond Engineering Company; engaged in the coal and lumber business; elected, council, Monongahela (1905-1906); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1906; reelected to serve 2 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1912); died, October 7, 1923 in Dixonburg, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Monongahela Cemetery, Monongahela, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
