BENNINGER, William M., a Representative from Northampton County; born in Lehigh Gap, Lehigh County, Pa., March 23, 1854; graduated, Keystone State Normal School (now Kutztown University of Pennsylvania); corporal, Company H, 4th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard (1879-1884); farmer; cattle farmer; postmaster, United States Post Office, Walnutport (1886-1889, 1893-1897); elected, treasurer, Lehigh Township (1907-1911); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1913 term; reelected to serve 3 consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1920); died, March 15, 1936 in Northampton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Indianland, Walnutport, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
