BENNETT, Dr. Michael Smith, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, April 10, 1881 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; D.M.D., University of Pennsylvania Dental School, 1905; sergeant, Troop A, First Pennsylvania Cavalry; dentist (1905-1963); school director, 42nd Ward, Philadelphia (1909-1912); elected, city council, Philadelphia (1916-1917); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1917 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1918); football coach, Haverford College, Mercersburg Academy and the University of the South, Tn.; died, December 26, 1964 in Bristol Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Lawnview Cemetery, Rockledge, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
