AMBLER, Charles Ambler, a Representative from Montgomery County; born in Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pa., January 5, 1874; owner, general store; president and advisor, Ambler-Davis Contractors; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Abington (1897-1902); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1902; reelected to serve 5 nonconsecutive terms thereafter (1904, 1906, 1908, 1912, 1914); elected, Speaker (1915-1916); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1916); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania Auditor General (1916); appointed, State Insurance Commissioner (1917-1919); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1918); died, August 29, 1940 in Abington, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hatboro Cemetery, Hatboro, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
