ADAMS, William Llewellyn, a Representative from Luzerne County; born in Audenried, Carbon County, Pa., December 6, 1874; graduated, Dickinson Seminary (now Lycoming College); graduated, Boston College; served, Governor’s Troops, Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (Spanish-American War); served, United States Marines (Philippine Insurrection); attended, United States Army Officer Candidate School, Plattsburg, NY (1917); served, Company 12, 18th Provisional Training Regiment (World War I); elected as a Washington Party candidate to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1912; reelected as a Republican to the House in 1914; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1916); appointed, claims adjuster, State Workmen’s Insurance Fund Board, Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (1916); floor walker, department store, New York City; chief of police, Hollywood, Fl. (1926-1928); elected, city commission, Hollywood; elected, mayor, Hollywood (1931-1935); died, January 8, 1955 in Bay Pine, Pinellas County, Florida; interred, Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, Pinellas County, Florida.
