WACHHAUS, Gus, Sr., a Representative from Schuylkill County; born in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, Pa., March 15, 1901; attended, Overbrook School for the Blind, Philadelphia; attended, Perkins Institution for Blind, Boston; piano tuner; newsstand operator; unsuccessful campaign for election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1940); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1943 term and served 4 consecutive terms thereafter; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1953 term; restauranteur; died, June 28, 1984 in Richmond, Chesterfield County, Virginia; interred, Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
