VAN SANT, John Thomas, a Representative from Lehigh County; born, November 2, 1915 in Delano, Schuylkill County, Pa.; graduated, Hazelton High School; attended, Westminster College; attended, Muhlenberg College; yeoman, 3rd class, United States Navy (1944-1946, World War II); announcer, WRAK radio, Williamsport; sports director and announcer, WSAN radio, Allentown; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican to serve the 1951 and 1953 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1954); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1955-1970); elected, Senate Majority Caucus Secretary (1963-1970); appointed, Local Government Commission (1963-1970); elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1967-1968); died, October 3, 1972 in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
