THOMPSON, Dr. Edwin Fletcher, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, October 29, 1897 in Augusta, Richmond County, Ga.; attended, Harbison College; attended, Paine College; D.D.S., Meharry Dental College; private, 1st class, United States Army (World War I); dentist; elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1936); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1937 term; reelected to the House to serve 5 nonconsecutive terms thereafter, 1939, 1941, 1943, 1947 and 1951; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1945, 1949 and 1953 terms; died, January 18, 1976 in Richmond County, Georgia; interred, Cedar Grove Cemetery, August, Richmond County, Georgia.
