TARR, Burton E., a Representative from Fayette County; born, December 8, 1910 in Youngstown, Westmoreland County, Pa.; attended, Beckley College; attended, California (University of Pennsylvania) State Teachers College; attended, University of Pittsburgh; graduated, University of Alabama; lieutenant, United States Army (World War II); teacher, North Union High School, Uniontown; secretary, Fayette County Young Democrats; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1938 and 1940; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1942); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1947-1950); appointed, Joint Legislative Committee on Public Library Service (1947-1948); appointed, Local Government Commission (1949-1950); not a candidate for reelection, State Senate (1950); died, December 16, 1981 in Hopwood, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Oliver, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
