SPROUL, Thomas Jay, a Representative from Delaware County; born in the city of Roanoke, Roanoke County, Va., December 8, 1888; graduated, Chester High School, 1905; A.B., A.M., chemistry, Swarthmore College, 1909; chemistry teacher, Swarthmore College (1910-1912); partner, Lewis Bros. Co., Wholesale Grocers (1912-1933); treasurer and director, Atlantic Steel Castings Company (1915-1975); investment and insurance broker, Janney Montgomery Scott, Inc. (1929-1974); elected, commissioner, Nether Providence Township (1932-1948); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1935 term and reelected to serve the 1937 and 1947 terms; appointed, Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Agencies (1947-1948); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1938, 1948); died, November 25, 1980 in Nether Providence Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
