SLOAN, J. Clair, a Representative from Indiana County; born, Atwood, Armstrong County, Pa., on July 12, 1884; attended, Indiana Normal School (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania); served, Company F, 10th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard; merchant; president, Indiana Silk Mills; elected, council, Indiana, Pa.; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1934 and 1936; not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1938 General election; operator, Sloan Furniture Store; died, February 14, 1963 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida; interred, Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
