SIMON, Joseph A., a Representative from Clinton County; born in Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pa., May 1, 1881; graduated, Lock Haven High School, 1897; attended, State Teachers College at Lock Haven (now Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania); graduated, Lock Haven Business Institute; member, Pennsylvania Reserve Militia (World War I); employed, A. Simon’s Sons (1902-1927); elected, council, Lock Haven; Democratic State Committeeman (2 terms); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1929 term and reelected to serve 4 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Special Committee on Interstate Cooperation (1935-1936); appointed, Joint Legislative Commission on Interstate Cooperation (1937-1938); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (1937-1938); appointed, Pennsylvania Commission on Interstate Cooperation (1937-1938); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1939 term; died, October 1, 1943 in Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Highland Cemetery, Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania.
