SHOEMAKER, William A., a Representative from Lehigh County; born, August 10, 1897 in Mertztown, Berks County, Pa.; graduated, Longswamp High School; attended, Keystone State Normal School (now Kutztown University of Pennsylvania); attended, Muhlenberg College; second lieutenant, Field Artillery, Calvary, United States Army (World War I); furniture clerk; registry assessor, Macungie borough; school teacher; school board president, Macungie borough; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1937 term (Sworn-In on December 1, 1936); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the House for the 1939 term; died, January 17, 1969 in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania; interred, Solomon's Union Cemetery, Mucungie, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
