SHEARER, William Reuben, a Representative from Cumberland County; born, Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pa., December 25, 1881; Ph.D., Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science; engaged in the retail drug business (53 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1939 term; appointed, Committee to Investigate Manner of Conduction Civil Service Examinations (1939-1940); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1940); appointed, Committee to Investigate Unemployment Compensation Civil Service (1941-1942); elected, alternate delegate, Republican National Convention (1944); elected, Carlisle School Board (6 years); trustee, Shippensburg University; died, November 17, 1967 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
