ROWEN, William, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, June 17, 1893 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; attended, Temple University; attended, Eckels College of Embalmers; private, 315th Infantry, 79th Division, United States Army (1918-1919, World War I; Purple Heart and Victory Medal recipient); chief boatswain’s mate, Volunteer Port Security Force, United States Coast Guard Reserve (World War II); chair, Ration Board No. 18; reemployment officer and member, Selective Service Board No. 18; funeral director; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1947 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1949 term; died, July 10, 1971 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
