ROSE, Walter E., Jr., a Representative from Cambria County; born, July 21, 1911 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa.; attended, Johnstown High School; attended, Mercersburg Academy; B.S., economics, Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania; LL.B., University of Pennsylvania Law School; lieutenant, United States Navy (1945-1946, World War II); attorney-at-law; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1938; reelected to 3 more terms to the House in 1940, 1942 and 1946; elected, Majority Whip (1943-1944); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (1943-1944); resigned from the House, January 5, 1948; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1944); elected, mayor, Johnstown (1948-1959); attorney, Legal Bureau, Pennsylvania Department of Highways (1961-1969); died, February 2, 1969 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
