Smith; instructor, political science, Temple University (1973-1974); field director, The Heart Association; elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1976, 1980); chair, Philadelphia Voter Registration; member, Philadelphia Democratic Executive Committee; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1993 term; reelected and served 6 consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 2007 term.
